Do you have a wild-inspired project you need time and space to work on in a supportive, creative environment in the woods? Apply for the writer-out-of-residence program at Jessica Carew Kraft’s guest property in Camino, California.
Why “out of residence”? Because we spend 96% of our time indoors, and getting outside is one of the best things we can do. The property is designed with several outdoor workspaces so you can watch pollinators and predators as you fertilize your creativity.
This low-cost program includes two meals a day, writing coaching from Jessica (and occasionally other published authors), nature exploration, tea, coffee, and snacks. The program is specially tailored to working parents who need a retreat to boost their creative projects away from home and responsibilities. Sliding fee of $200-400.
You’ll stay in a Japanese-style guest house equipped with an outdoor bathroom, fire pit, trampoline, and kitchenette. Outside, explore 20 acres of wild Sierra foothills forest, including a year-round creek. Meals are partially home-grown and foraged. There are optional excursions to nearby nature reserves and a horse corral next door. Yoga and movement classes by request.
